What is Telportus?

Telportus is a virtual guided tour platform. Connect with international professionals on interactive virtual experiences from all over the world. See and hear the sights and sounds of far-off locations in real-time, asking questions as the action unfolds.

Yes. Every Telportus experience is completely unique: run by professional guides who talk with you in real-time. The videos are not pre-recorded, though at times the tour guide may put on brief sections of pre-recorded content that they'll speak over, so long as it accentuates the experience.

In every experience, you'll have the ability to type in the chat and use our 'Raise Hand' feature, both of which will send notifications to the guide's device. Many experiences allow you to communicate using video and audio, like a normal conference call. This is up to the tour operator and whether audio disruptions from viewers is a major concern.

Normal tours will have other customers on them. The guide's stream will still be the focus, but others can ask questions and interact the same as you, just like a group guided tour. If you'd like to experience a private tour, you can reach out to us at info@telportus.io to schedule a private tour; prices are listed on the tour details page of each experience. We'll find a time that works for you and our partners.

If you'd like to have a tour with just you and your friends or family, we suggest either purchasing a private tour and having your loved ones gather around the same computer. If you're all in different locations, you can all buy a tour on the same date, or reach out to at info@telportus.io to work out a solution.

No. Our website can be accessed anywhere in the world. That being said, we have servers in five countries: The United States, Australia, India, Italy and Spain. Locations farther away may experience more latency with video streaming products.

If you run into issues, first, ensure that you have a stable internet connection. A strong wifi network is better compared to a mobile data network. If confirmed, try refreshing the page. Be sure to check our list of compatible browsers and devices to ensure that your software is up to date.

If you cannot hear the guide, check to be sure that your device is not connected to any other device via BlueTooth and that your volume is turned up. If you still cannot hear, check with other people in the chatroom and see if they can hear. Your guide may be having issues with their microphone if no one is receiving audio but the video connection is clear.

If your guide's video stream is blurry or dropping frames, you can check their video's framerate by making their window go full-screen and pressing the Stats button in the top left corner of their window. You should see the resolution listed. If the number after the 'x' is 720, it's running at highest quality. 180 is the lowest. If their resolution is low, the problem is a connectivity one on their end and not anything to do with the server or your connection.

How do I sign up for an experience?

First, make an account. You can do this by clicking the Login link at the top right of the header and then clicking the sign-up link on the login page. Once logged in, you can navigate to the tour details page of an experience, choose your date and the number of links that you're buying, and then head to your cart to enter your credit card information.

Payment is processed immediately upon the purchase of an experience. Once payment via debit or credit card is confirmed, the experience is added to your Experiences page in your profile dashboard and you'll be able to join.

What happens during an experience?

You can find your upcoming experiences in the Experiences tab of your profile dashboard. Once on the page, locate the desire event and click 'Go To Room'. The portal should then open.

An experience should start at the listed time. You'll have access to a chat feature and a list of participants. You can maximize the video of any participants with video access, allowing you to append their video to the center of the screen. From here, you'll watch the tour, either asking questions into your mic or into the chat window. The guides will be friendly, informative and responsive.

We'll reach out to you as soon as we are aware that this has happened. Alternatively, please email us at info@telportus.io. Once we verify that this took place, we'll offer you the option to reschedule the experience or to cancel altogether and receive a refund.

All experiences are given in English.
